Search warrant yields disturbing fraud documents

Chilliwack, BC- On Wednesday, September 19 members of the Chilliwack RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 46300 block of Yale Road in Chilliwack. The search warrant was in relation to an ongoing fraud investigation where stolen credit cards and data were used in multiple purchases at businesses in Chilliwack. Investigators seized approximately 1000 stolen personal ID cards consisting of credit cards, drivers licences, BC Care Cards, SIN cards, Status cards, School ID, foreign ID, and firearms licences. It is suspected that the identification and credit cards originated from dozens of break and enter and theft from vehicle occurrences throughout Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. The thefts date back to 2009 and as recent as 2012.

Large outdoor grow-op dismantled in Agassiz

Agassiz, BC- On September 22, 2012, the Agassiz RCMP along with the assistance of members from the Coordinated Marijuana Enforcement Team dismantled a large outdoor marijuana grow operation in the Chehalis River Valley. Over 2,000 marijuana plants were seized at a street value of approximately 2 million dollars.

New Ruse Being Used to Steal Cell Phones

Distraction techniques seem to be where it’s at as far as stealing cell phones in Richmond. In previous thefts suspects were tricking people by asking them for the time. When victims pulled out their cell phone to check the time, the suspect grabbed the phone & headed for the hills. Suspects are still managing to trick people into handing over their phones but now the approach is a bit different.

Richmond RCMP Summer Youth Camps Done for This Year
